Since Jonathan Hill made his concerto debut at the age of 9 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, he has been much in demand as a violin soloist. He recently gave a performance of the Carman Fantasy by Franz Waxman in liason with the composer’s son and  the Library of Congress Archives in Washington DC.

 

Jacqueline Phillips is Guest Principal Cello of the Irish Chamber Orchestra.

 

Nicholas Cox is Principal Clarinet of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Nicholas has performed concertos with most of the major Orchestras and with pianist Vanessa Latarche he has recorded several programmes for BBC Radio 3.

 

Elizabeth Drew, clarinet, appears as a soloist with the Moscow Virtuosi, the Emperor Quartet and numerous other ensembles.

 

Edward Hession, accordion, is a former All Britain Virtuoso Solo Accordion Champion and 2nd prizewinner in the Coupe Mondiale World Accordion Championships, USA in 1981. Edward has appeared as soloist with the London Symphony Orchestra, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The Philharmonia, and is much in demand as one of London’s' top recording session musicians.

 

Ann Child, viola, is a leading freelance and chamber music specialist. She studied with Robin Ireland and has a busy career in both chamber and light music

 

Geoffrey Pratley studied piano and cello at the Royal Academy of Music, London, where he very quickly became known as an outstanding accompanist. After recitals with the violinist Frederick Grinke and the baritone Bruce Boyce, he was introduced to many world famous artistes. For over twenty years he was a regular partner to the mezzo-soprano Dame Janet Baker, the French cellist Paul Tortelier, and the distinguished British violinist Ralph Holmes. Text Box: Marianne Olyver is the Director and principal soloist of the Orchestra. She began to play the violin at the age of 12 and just one year later was accepted into the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, becoming the first girl to be invited to lead that Orchestra at the age of 17.  Marianne was inspired to form her Orchestra by Professor Emanuel Hurwitz CBE with whom she studied. The late, great Max Jaffa was also an enthusiastic supporter of the Orchestra. 

Heather Corbett’s stunning tuned percussion performances are legendary in the music profession. Heather is Section Principal Percussion of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. 

Dominic Seldis is Principal Double Bass of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. He is a true virtuoso of the instrument and is much in demand for his stunning solo recitals. 

Sarah Ewins is Assistant Leader of the English Sinfonia and Guest Principal of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
