The Repertoire Marianne and her Orchestra draw upon an extensive library, which originated from a pre-war Salon Orchestra. Pianist Geoffrey Pratley and the Orchestra’s Violist Patrick Crooke has also extended the repertoire of the Orchestra with their arrangements. Marianne is also grateful for the expert advice of the Light Music Society under the distinguished chairmanship of composer Ernest Tomlinson (Little Serenade etc). Contact the Orchestra’s office for further details of this excellent society.
The Orchestra’s concerts reflect an exciting blend of styles ranging from much loved Viennese Classics to the thrilling gypsy music of Hungary and Romania, British Light Music Classics as well as the great romantic virtuoso masterpieces of Lizst, Brahms, Paganini, and others.
Journey Down the Danube A popular evening, ranging from much loved Viennese Classics to the thrilling gypsy music of Hungary and Romania - a speciality of the Orchestra. This type of programme is ideal for audience building, family and New Year concerts.

Westminster Waltz As we have entered the new millennium, we are taking a nostalgic look back with a programme that includes masterpieces of British Light Music. This is beautiful music that has been underrated for too long.
Souvenirs from a Golden Age An orchestra or duo programme, Souvenirs of a Golden Age is drawn from Marianne’s extensively researched and constantly evolving repertoire of British and European light music masterpieces from the late 19th century to the 1950’s, the Golden Age of light music. Alongside established repertoire, Marianne includes delightful previously undiscovered works.
Composers whose works are regularly programmed include Sir Edward German, Sir Edward Elgar, Robert Farnon, Ernest Tomlinson, Henryk Wieniawski, Albert Sandler, Billy Mayerl, Charles Williams, Fritz Kreisler, Eric Coates, Albert Ketelby, Joseph Achron, Sarasate and many others. Also included are Gypsy favourites for which Marianne has a reputation second to none. |
